2017.04.02 - Message by Ps. Duane White - The Bridge Church in Denton, TX

This Sunday, April 3rd, 2017. Pastor Duane White unpacked an amazing message to finish out our series Over the Top Faith here at The Bridge Church in Denton, TX.

Over the Top Faith:

Seeing and hearing are connected in the life of a believer. Especially when it comes to the subject of faith.

Here are a few simple principles about sound and hearing that will help you:

  1.  What you hear affects what you believe.
  2. Significant forces make a significant sound.
  3. Sound precedes sight.

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God,” (Romans 10:17, NKJV).

What you see you produce, and what you hear you believe. Hearing drives belief and belief drives behavior. Faith comes by hearing the promise of God, but doubt and fear come by hearing the problem of the devil. What you hear affects how you feel about what you see.

You can see the same image set to different music and it changes what you feel about the image. For example, in movies there is something called mood music. Alfred Hitchcock was the master mind behind the science of this. With the right sound track, you can scare somebody in an instant. The original music that is written for a film is called the score, or you could call it the background music, and the score is critical as to how the production makes you feel.

Your perception of what you are seeing is massively shaped by what you hear while your seeing it. The devil has mood music that he uses to influence what you believe. He is constantly trying to re-write the score of your life. If the devil is presenting you with a problem, then he sets it to scary music to make you even more afraid.

If you want to change the movie of your life let God change the score.

Faith is an act and the first act of faith is speaking the right thing. So faith speaks the score that God has written over your life. When the devil brings a problem to scare you… SING THE PRAISE SCORE OVER your life. Believing is the attitude of faith, speaking is the initial act of faith.

Their will be other acts of obedience that will follow, but the first act of faith is to agree with God.

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation,” (Romans 10:9–10, NKJV).

Everything that comes from God is accessed the same way. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth. The spirit of faith must be spoken.

“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,” (2 Corinthians 4:13, NKJV).

What you really believe, you will ultimately speak.

Have you noticed that oftentimes, not always but often, God doesn’t want to speak to you about where you are, but where He says you are headed? Why is that? Because He knows if you listen to His word faith will come and you will begin to speak the truth.

To truly live by faith, you never speak where you are, you speak where you are going. Facts never change the truth, but the truth can definitely change the facts.

Sound precedes movement, and movement precedes sight. For example, you hear the train long before you see the train. Therefore the sound reaches much farther than the sight. The exception to that is light. Nothing travels faster than light, that’s why you see the lightning before you hear the thunder. God is light, so with Him, what you see precedes what you hear, but then you need to say what you saw.

Bottom line is, you are like the train, and your sound precedes your sight. Wherever the sound goes the power will follow. As a Christian, you have the most powerful force in the earth in you, The Resurrection of the Power of Jesus Christ. The creator of the universe lives in you, but the sound you make will determine where you go.

You can’t make a depressing sound and live in joy.
You can’t make a defeated sound and live in victory.
You can’t make a hateful sound and walk in love.
You can’t make a gossiping sound and live in unity.
You can’t make a sound of fear and stay in faith.

Your destiny is voice activated. Heaven, and all of its resources, are attracted to the sound of faith, but Hell, and all it’s resources, are attracted to the sound of fear and doubt.

Faith is the door to the supernatural power of God. Fear is the door to the supernatural power of the devil. Which door do you want to access?
Believing and speaking are the hinges to that door.

Will you reach out and touch Jesus?

03.26.2017 – Ps. Cody White – Over the Top Faith Pt. 4

2017.03.26 - Message by Ps. Cody White - The Bridge Church in Denton, TX

This Sunday, March 26th, 2017, Pastor Cody White unpacked an amazing message to continue our series Over the Top Faith here at The Bridge Church in Denton, Texas.

Over the Top Faith:

“Then the high officials and the satraps sought to find a ground for complaint against Daniel with regard to the kingdom, but they could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, and no error or fault was found in him. Then these men said, “We shall not find any ground for complaint against this Daniel unless we find it in connection with the law of his God. Then these high officials and satraps came by agreement[a] to the king and said to him, “O King Darius, live forever! All the high officials of the kingdom, the prefects and the satraps, the counselors and the governors are agreed that the king should establish an ordinance and enforce an injunction, that whoever makes petition to any god or man for thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions. Now, O king, establish the injunction and sign the document, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and the Persians, which cannot be revoked.” Therefore King Darius signed the document and injunction. When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously. Then these men came by agreement and found Daniel making petition and plea before his God. Then they came near and said before the king, concerning the injunction, “O king! Did you not sign an injunction, that anyone who makes petition to any god or man within thirty days except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?” The king answered and said, “The thing stands fast, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be revoked.” (Daniel 6:4-12, ESV)

You may wonder sometimes, “Why is it so hard to tell people about Jesus?”

As a Christian, no matter what you do in life, you should always do it with a spirit of excellence. You have to learn to share your faith with others.

Not only was Daniel aware of the law that was made about praising another God, he immediately went to his room, opened the window, and began to pray to the one true God. God has called us to keep the window open. Don’t let culture tame you and keep you from doing what God has called you to do.

You may be struggling with boldness, but what you need to know is that by reading and speaking out God’s word, you are given boldness in Him. We can be bold because we have Christ in us.

“When they were released, they went to their friends and reported what the chief priests and the elders had said to them. And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit,

 “‘Why did the Gentiles rage,
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers were gathered together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed’

for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:23-31)

Your friends matter, and your solution to receiving boldness is to simply pray for boldness. Ask your friends to pray for you. When you continue to speak out the Word of God, you will receive that boldness to share the gospel with everyone.

We are called as christians to love God and love people. Step out and choose to be bold in your faith.

2017.03.19 - Message by Ps. Duane White - The Bridge Church in Denton, TX

This Sunday, March 19th, 2017, Pastor Duane White continued our series Over the Top Faith here at The Bridge Church in Denton, Texas.

Over the Top Faith:

Hope is dreams while faith is the building materials to build the dream. Faith is always an act; it’s the dream that is put into motion.

If faith is so important then how do you get faith? The answer is, you don’t. Faith comes by hearing the word. You don’t get faith, you receive it.

After you receive faith, you may wonder, “is that all I get?” Or you may ask: “Can faith grow?”

“So Jesus said to them, ‘Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.’” (Matthew 17:20, NKJV)

Jesus was not talking about mustard seed size faith, but mustard seed type faith. The mustard plant is a fast-growing annual herb, growing as tall as 10ft-12ft in only a few months. It was the smallest seed the Jewish people planted in their gardens, yet it became the largest plant in their gardens when it was grown. The mustard seed is a striking example of the potential of a seed. Although it starts out small and insignificant, it quickly grows into something massive and significant.

A seed does nothing until it is planted. Jesus seems to indicate that our faith is planted by speaking.

“If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say…”

To have mustard seed faith, you have to say something. Saying what God says in His Word is your best choice. Therefore, you release your faith with your words, but then that faith takes on power – the power to move mountains. There’s a time to climb the mountain, but there is also a time to move some mountains.

“…if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)

What is your mountain? Whatever it may be, faith can move them all. In Mark, Jesus also teaches how to move mountains:

“Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.” (Mark 11:20–21, NKJV)

You only receive faith if you are going to do something with it.

“For assuredly, I say (lego) to you, whoever (KJV – WHOSOEVER) says (eipon) to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt (diakrino) in his heart (heart NOT head), but believes that those things he says (lego) will be done, he will have whatever he says (eipon).” (Mark 11:23, NKJV)

Lego means to lay down systematically, a set discourse. In other words: let me break this down for you. First you command it, then you keep believing it as you lego it. You must keep saying it!

So that verse can actually read: Whosoever – Shall Have – Whatsoever – He Says

You don’t have what others say, you have what you say. You need to hear God’s voice, but your mountain needs to hear your voice. When you hear God’s voice, faith comes; but when your mountain hears your voice, it moves. It’s time to quit telling God how big your mountain is and start telling your mountain how big your God is!

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3, NKJV)

God’s word in His mouth framed the world. God’s word in your mouth frames your world. Your mountain is what you see until you see the unseen, and then faith comes.

“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them,” (Mark 11:24, NKJV).

Therefore, when you pray, believe the mountain is moving! Move the mountain that has been between you and God. Believe that you receive what you ask for, and you will have it. Your faith may start tiny, but when you exercise it, it will grow.

Your words release your faith, challenges grow your faith. A seed sown into the ground is released, but it’s the environment that resists the soil that gets it to grow. The soil never dictates to the seed what it can become, it just squeezes out of it, what is already inside of it.

03.12.2017 – Ps. Duane White – Over the Top Faith Pt. 2

2017.03.12 - Message by Ps. Duane White - The Bridge Church in Denton, TX

This Sunday, March 12th, 2017, Pastor Duane White unpacked an amazing message to continue our Over the Top Faith series here at The Bridge Church in Denton, TX.

Over the Top Faith:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony,” (Hebrew 11:1-2).

When you live by faith, the “image” projected by your life events to other folks will look like God’s original intent for your life.

We also saw three definitions for  faith out of that text:

  1. Faith is seeing the unseen.
  2. Faith is turning dreams into deeds.
  3. Faith is betting your life on unseen realities.

To a faithless person, betting your life on what you cannot see makes no sense. If the faithless had a creed, it would go something like this:

The creed of the faithless reality is the substance of what makes sense, based on the evidence of what is seen.

To a faith person that makes no sense.

If you can see the unseen long enough, it can draw out that God DNA that resides in you. Faith is the observation of the outcome desired before it manifests while it is still unseen.

You have to learn to starve out the weak and feeble things that aren’t God in your life. Faith is seeing the unseen rather then acting on what you have seen. So, what do you see, and what will you do about it?

Faith draws out of you what normally should not come out under your present circumstances. Grace provides it and then faith accesses, unitl God produces it then everybody can see it. You can not prove your faith, or anybody else’s, merely by what they have.

The by-product of your faith is not proof you have faith. It might prove you had faith, but if we see the by-product of your faith, you don’t still need faith for it. Only God knows until you act in faith.

Your act  of faith  is the proof you have faith. Your corresponding actions show that you have faith, but God doesn’t credit you with faith, when what you have faith for manifests, but when you believe.

Our faith needs to be two things:

  1. It is bigger than our individual lives. Sometimes you need people to help you.
  2. It is greater than we can fulfill in our lifetime

“Not one of these people, even though their lives of faith were exemplary, got their hands on what was promised (they ran out of TIME). God had a better plan for us: that their faith and our faith would come together to make one completed whole, their lives of faith not complete apart from ours.” (Hebrews 11:39-40, Message)

God is raising up a PEOPLE in Denton, Texas who will live by FAITH. Not only for themselves, but for the generation they are called to. And beyond that, to finish what others started, and leave a legacy that is beyond their lifetime!

You may be thinking, “What if I believe God and nothing happens?” But God credits your faith as righteousness.

What if I dream and it never happens? Do it anyway – by faith!
What if I pray and don’t get the miracle? Do it anyway – by faith!
