This Sunday, May 21st, 2017, Pastor Duane White unpacked an amazing message to finish out our series on Scandalous Grace here at The Bridge Church in Denton, Texas.
In this message, Pastor Duane focused Corporate Grace, which is the grace of God over a particular group of people.
Have you ever met a family in which almost everyone in that family had particular gifts? Maybe they are all musically talented, or the family runs a business, or maybe they are all very gifted athletically? That is considered a corporate family grace.
Have you ever seen a church that was just graced to do certain things? Maybe they are great at evangelism or worship? For example, like Bethel, Betel, or The Dream Center. It doesn’t mean that they can’t do other things, but they have a special grace to do those particular things, probably better than most. This is what you would call a corporate grace.
The anointing in your life is toward you as an individual, but it is never for you individually. It’s always connected to other people, usually who people are different than you. It is Christ, the corporate man, in all of us, that is the hope of God being manifested in the earth.
“But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head [Christ] from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4:15-16, NKJV)
When God connects you to a group of people, you have access to the grace on that group of people, and they get access to the grace over your life.
“Those who are planted in the house of the Lord will flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing.” (Psalms 92:13-14)
You only flourish where you are planted. Let your roots go down and receive from the environment, or the soil, you are planted in. All you have to do is tap into it. There is a corporate grace around you. Get rooted and receive it.
The Atoning Grace is everything Christ paid for on my behalf through His death, burial, and resurrection. To understand exactly what this means you have to backtrack a bit to the Old Testament and see what was promised when people obey or disobey the law, as seen in Deuteronomy 28:1-8 and Deuteronomy 28: 15-24.
In Deuteronomy, we witness the type of conditions of living without grace. This was what happened to you if you couldn’t keep the law, but Galatians says that the law was a school master – a teacher sent to teach us that we cannot do on our own.
Man’s sin led to the entrance of sickness and financial devastation. These were known as the curse of the law. When Christ lived He fulfilled the requirements of the law. When He died He paid the ultimate penalty for disobedience even though He never disobeyed. When He was raised from the dead, He conquered death by beating it.
This is known as the atonement. This is why on the cross Jesus said, “It is finished.”
But think about it, if the penalty for sin was paid, then what happened to the curse of disobedience? It too should be gone. Jesus’ sacrifice brought the grace of God into your life, His obedience became your obedience, His death becomes your death, and His life becomes your life.
The cross built a bridge to give you access to the blessing and favor of God. The cross is your bridge to grace. Jesus is enough! The anointing grace, the saving grace, is available to everyone.
Now you may ask, do I have any responsibility in all this? Responsibility means the ability to respond, and by grace, you have the ability to respond to grace, by faith.
Grace provides it while faith accesses it. Faith is the door to access the room provided by grace.
“Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.” (Hebrews 12:15, NKJV)
Can you grow in grace? Absolutely.
“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” (2 Peter 1:2-4, NKJV)
Faith grants you access into the grace of God, the knowledge of God multiplies it. Your experiential, revelatory, personal, and intimate knowledge of God multiplies His grace in your life. By faith you gain access into the grace of God, but it’s by wisdom that you multiply your provision of grace.
Do you want to multiply the release of the Individual Grace in your life? Grow in wisdom and the knowledge of who God really is.
Do you want to multiply the corporate grace being released in your life? Get connected and let the Father give you the wisdom to respond and release it in your life.
Do you want to multiply the provision of Atoning Grace and all its benefits in your life? Get intimately acquainted with the knowledge of God in all He accomplished through His death, burial, and resurrection.
