This Sunday, February 5th, 2017, Pastor Duane White unpacked more on our series Over the Top Praise here at The Bridge Church in Denton, TX.

Over the Top Praise:

Why do you praise?

Here are a few things that can give you a Biblical foundation and reasonable understanding as to why we should praise God:

  1. We are commanded in His Word to do so.
  2. He is worthy of our praise.
  3. It is a good and beautiful thing.
  4. We were created to praise Him.
  5. He is enthroned in our praise.
  6. There is power in praise.
  7. Praise releases in the natural realm what is happening in spiritual realm.

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!  Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp!  Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!  Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!  Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!”(Ps 150:1-6, NKJV)

God doesn’t ask us to praise Him, He commands it. He isn’t some sort of narcissistic deity that needs humanity to praise Him. He is God whether you praise Him or not. God doesn’t require that you praise him because He needs it, but because He knows that you need to praise Him.

He commands it because He knows that praise lifts you to a higher perspective, and when you praise Him you become like Him. God’s command for you to praise Him is not for Him, it’s for you, but it is a command none the less.

“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in His holy mountain.” (Psalm 48:1, NKJV)

Our praise is an outward and public profession of our inward conviction of just how great God is.

Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.”(Psalm 147:1, NKJV)

Praising God is good and pleasant and beautiful. You are hard wired to worship and praise the Father. All of creation declares His praise therefore we should too. You were chosen to praise God.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light,” (1 Peter 2:9, NKJV).

God loves our praise. God loves your praise so much that He lives in the middle of it. Not only does God live in the middle of your praise, He rules in your life from the middle of your praise, and from His throne is released healing, blessings, favor, and so much more.

Your praise is a weapon. Choose to go Over the Top.
