This Sunday, August 14th, 2016, Pastor Kris White began our new series For the Win here at The Bridge Church in Denton, Texas.

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” (1 Corinthians 9, NIV)

Live it out, and run to win!

If you are going to run, you must be able to answer three questions:

  1. What’s a real Win?
    • real win is when God gets the glory by His grace. We also win when we grow and mature. We win when we make others win.
    • “People may spend their whole lives climbing the ladder of success only to find, once they reach the top, that the ladder is leaning against the wrong wall.” – Thomas Merton
  2. What is my win?
    • Your win isn’t my win. You must run your race, and stay in your lane.  It’s important to know your unique purpose.
    • “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5
    • God knows you, He set you apart, and He appointed you. Stop comparing other’s wins to yours, and run your race!
  3. What can steal my win?
    • There are many things that could steal or sabotage our win.
    • “No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” – 1 Corinthians 2:27
    • You have been qualified. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called! Nothing can disqualify me, except for me.

So, what can steal my win?

  • Distraction, which is a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else.
  • Discouragement, which soon leads to quitting.

Our energy is finite. Our distractions are infinite. You steer where you stare, so focus on your race.

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” (2 Corinthians 2:14)

Victory is in your veins! How do you plan to live out your victory?
