This Sunday, March 8, 2015 at The Bridge Church in Denton, Texas Pastor Kris White shared the last part of our Rise and Build series.
Completion of the Wall
As we are reaching closer to the end of Nehemiah, we see the rebuilding of the wall has been completed, and Nehemiah has set up gate keepers at each entrance. In chapter 8, the people of the city gather together and have the scriptures read to them. In hearing the scriptures, they begin weeping and mourning for how they had sinned and what they had lost all the years that the city was lying in ruins. However, Nehemiah and Ezra, along with the other Levite leaders comforted the people and encouraged them not to mourn.
Rebuilding Your Joy and Strength
When Nehemiah saw the people mourning, he encouraged them to be joyful, “Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” We will not always be happy in life, because happiness is a temporary emotion. However, joy is from the Lord, and it is eternal. Since we are in the Lord, we receive our joy through Him! When the people understood this, they went out and celebrated.
Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” – Nehemiah 8:10
Are you ready to rebuild your joy and strength?
