This Sunday, October 19th 2014 at The Bridge Church in Denton, Texas, Pastor Duane shared a spectacular message about overcoming ourselves – our failures and our flaws!
I’m Over It!
So far in the “I’m Over It!” series, we’ve learned how to be “OVER being OVERLOOKED”, how to be “OVER being a VICTIM”, how to be “OVER relational disappointment”, and last week we learned how to be “OVER our MESS”. This week, we are learning how to be “OVER ourselves”! Pastor Duane showed us two ways that we can get over ourselves: we must get OVER our failures and OVER our flaws. We are continuing in the books of 1 and 2 Samuel and learning from studying the life of David, the man after God’s own heart.
I’m Over My Failures!
In 2 Samuel 11 and 12, we see that David failed in every way possible and his sin brought death into his family, but through his repentance, God redeemed him! He had to learn how to repent and get OVER his failures to accomplish all that God had called him to.
I’m Over My Flaws!
In 2 Samuel 9, Mephibosheth, whose name means “Son of Shame”, was shown great kindness by King David. Mephibosheth was terrified and humiliated by all the shame that he had lived with his whole life from being lame in both legs, but David looked past his flaws and treated him as royalty. Mephibosheth had to learn to look past his own flaws and live the life that he was called to live! Are you ready to GET OVER IT today? Watch Pastor Duane’s message below!
