This Sunday, April 6, at the Bridge Church in Denton, TX, Pastor Duane shared a spectacular message about the glory of God. How is the glory of God manifested in the earth? How do we see it?
Manifesting God’s glory through us. How, where, and why?
God’s glory is manifested through His presence, which is every where, all of the time. The name Jehovah Shammah was described in Ezekiel 48:35, as the LORD is there. The Lord is present. Even though He is omnipresent, His presence is manifested in certain places more than others… which begs the question, where is His glory manifested most?
From the moment God spoke life into existence, His glory was manifested throughout all of creation.
God created Adam in His own image and gave Adam dominion over the world. Adam walked with God, in His glory; thus God’s glory shined through Adam all the time. However, after the fall of humanity through Adam and Eve, all of humanity fell short of God’s glory. From the moment sin entered the world, to the moment Jesus was born, humans lost glory. We no longer reflected God in His glory, but reflected sin and death. But that all changed when Jesus came to the earth, walking in the full glory of God.
Because of Jesus’s death, burial and resurrection, that same offer of glory has been extended to every person. When we receive Jesus, God’s glory is manifested IN US.
[2 Corinthians 3:7-18] The presence was not IN moses in this reference. The presence was ON him, but it was fading. Jesus took that veil off though. God, by His Holy Spirit, is with us all the time. We live in His presence, thus His glory is IN us and not fading.
Now that God’s glory is in us, we have a responsibility to spread His glory throughout the world. In fact, all of creation is waiting and relying on us to manifest His glory. [Romans 8:18-30]
How do we manifest His glory?
By beholding HIM. The word behold means to observe and see. This is how humans learn. We watch, and what we see, we do. Whatever we behold, we become. If we are spending time with God in His presence, we begin to reflect that in our lives and spread His glory. God’s very glory is manifested in our lives, and we have the authority through Him to spread His glory where ever we go.
[Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. – Philippians 4:8]
[But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit. – 2 Corinthians 3:18]
